I chose geospatial technology (geographic information systems (GIS) ) as an artifact because its use is now pervasive in all realms of public and private organizations.  As an analyst for the Federal government, I experience first hand the use of geographic data in the reports that are disseminated by numerous Federal agencies. Furthermore, increasing my skill in using GIS as I continue to advance as an analyst (and hopefully one day into management) within the Federal bureaucracy is essential. The competencies I have acquired from studying GIS will help my evaluation/analysis of the complex issues facing government organizations.
