My background is in public policy analysis and public administration. Once I completed my bachelor’s degree in history from North Carolina State University, I obtained a Master of Public Administration degree. Nonetheless, I love books and libraries. After a career as a public policy and budget analyst for two Virginia governors, for over a decade I was a partner in a business providing services for the intellectually disabled. But I never lost my passion for libraries. When the business closed after the financial collapse of 2007-2008, I worked as a library assistant in an academic library in Richmond, Virginia. I now work as a management analyst for the United States Government in Washington, D.C.
The purpose of this ePortfolio is not only to showcase my knowledge and competences as a final capstone requirement for the M.S. degree from the School of Information Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, but also to combine my understanding of information sciences with the concepts of public policy and management analysis.
Through several artifacts, I will display the competences attained from my study of information science. These competences have increased my ability to retrieve and manage information. Access to pertinent and timely information is essential for the exceptional analysis that top-level government decision-makers require.
